What a week – and it’s not even over! It’s been a good week, and I am very much looking forward to the workshop I will be doing at the Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco on Saturday. I hope you will join us, it will be a wonderful day. For all the info, here’s the link:

What an extraordinary journey it has been – from endless hours of compulsive behavior, year after year – to today: living free from being controlled by hair pulling and skin picking. For years. And having the profound honor and opportunity to share with others.
Often-times, people ask me things like “What is the answer?” “What really worked?” “What is the secret I am missing?”
There are a lot of factors to consider for each one of us, but in essence there are a few things that I have learned over the years about the road to recovery. A lot of Saturday will be about these issues.
One, there is often the need for a paradigm shift in perspective, kind of a new way of looking at things. We become very entrenched in our viewpoints, our assumptions, our denial, etc. Next, there has to be authentic evaluation of one’s commitment and motivation, and there needs to be willingness to expand one’s ability to be comfortable with emotions or states that previously would be considered uncomfortable. On top of this one needs to actually have hope that stretching in new directions will actuallyhelp! Well I can tell you from personal experience, it does.
Then there is Practice. What do you need to do when you want to become good at something? Practice!
So on Saturday, while we will also review current research and developing treatment models, we will also do some experiential exercises aimed at promoting new perspectives and experiencing changes in our behaviors.
OK, I have to run to the Post Office, but I hope to see you Saturday. Much love, Christina
